Making :: Business Cards

Whether you are just creating a first-time business or have been around for a while and are planning marketing updates, business cards should be chosen with care.  After all, it's the business card that stays with someone after you have left.

Your business cards are a small reflection of your business.  So don't forget to have fun with your them.  Like these cute little edible cards from the Bombay Bakery... such an ingenious + great detail.  While they may not last long, these cookie cards create buzz amongst the customers and are memorable.

Don't have too much fun though.  A business card with too many varying fonts and colors is distracting and could potentially come across as unprofessional.  Generally, one to three colors is best, either for simplicity or contrast.  The style of your cards, the logo, the font, and the colors should all be the same as on the rest of your marketing pieces + website.

Notice the details in these cards:
- only one - three colors
- multiple fonts in many of these options
- the card isn't just font.  use pictures too.
- I love the rounded-edges to a card
- check out the cork-like card.  how fun!

If in doubt, consult a local print shop as they will have experience in printing business cards for other companies.  Check to see if they can do different edging on your cards or if they can make oval, rounded or oblong shaped options.  How many colors do they allow per card?  How thick or flimsy will the cardstock be?
